A small share of followers from other countries or languages is completely normal. Some people follow purely for the pictures, the travel content or a shared interest and do not need to understand the captions.
If the majority of the audience comes from a country or language that does not fit the content, there are two typical explanations:
- The creator switched languages. Many creators start out posting in English and later switch to their local language (for example German) to become more attractive for local campaigns. The old follower base stays, so the audience still looks international.
- Unnatural follower growth. Bought followers or follow/unfollow tactics often bring in accounts from countries with no connection to the content.
How to check: look at the follower history chart and the suspicious followers and activities on the profile page. Sudden follower jumps or a high share of suspicious accounts point to the second explanation. And simply ask the creator: many are transparent about their history and can explain the numbers. Keep in mind that the audience demographics are model-based estimates, so small deviations are expected.
