What is the difference between archiving and deleting creators or campaigns?

Archiving stops the tracking but keeps the data; deleting removes the data. This applies at both levels: creators inside a campaign and whole campaigns.

Creators in a campaign (Creator Overview, row menu or bulk actions):

  • Archive Creator stops tracking from the day of archiving. Everything collected until then stays in the campaign and in your dashboards, and the creator's tracking seat becomes free. Archived creators remain visible in the Creator Overview under the status filter archived.
  • Delete Creator is only offered for archived creators (for active creators the option is disabled, and bulk deletion requires that all selected creators are archived). Deleting permanently removes all data of that creator from the campaign; there is no undo. You can add the creator to the campaign again later.
  • The single-creator dialog warns that archiving cannot be undone. In practice you can restore archived creators via the bulk actions: select the archived creators in the list, click Archive, and the dialog offers Unarchive Creators. Tracking resumes as long as free tracking seats are available.

Whole campaigns (Campaign Settings):

  • Archive campaign stops the campaign: creators are set inactive and no longer tracked, and the campaign's seats become available for other campaigns. The data stays accessible, but an archived campaign cannot be activated again.
  • Delete campaign removes the campaign with all its data irrecoverably. If you may need the reporting later, archive instead of deleting.
