Engagement Overlaps

Find out how much your creators' communities overlap

Engagement Overlaps compare who actually engages with your creators: the people who publicly comment on their posts. Select 2 to 10 creators from one platform and see how many of their commenters are the same people. It is not a follower overlap, it is based on real interaction.

Start in a collection or from your search results: select the creators and click "Create Engagement Overlap". The analysis takes up to an hour. You get an overlap score for the whole line-up, the overlap between every pair of creators and, for each creator, how many commenters they have and what share of them also engages with the others.

"Decide with data whether your campaign should reach new people or the same fans several times."

What an Engagement Overlap shows you

Overlap score

The overlap score shows how many of all commenters engage with more than one creator in your selection. Next to it you see the total commenters, the unique commenters (distinct people, deduplicated) and the commenters counted more than once. A high score means your line-up reaches many of the same people repeatedly.

Commenters per creator

For every creator you see how many commenters they have and what share of them also engages with others in the selection. That tells you who brings new people into your campaign and who mostly reaches the same audience again.

Creator by creator

A heatmap shows the overlap between every pair of creators: the share of one creator's commenters who also comment on the other. You see at once which two creators share the most fans and which ones reach different people.

Two creators in detail

Pick any two creators from the overlap and see them in a Venn diagram: how many commenters they share, what percentage of each creator's commenters also engage with the other, and how many commenters and followers each of them has.

FAQ

How do I create an Engagement Overlap?

Select 2 to 10 creators from the same platform in a collection or in your search results and click "Create Engagement Overlap". You can also start directly under Reports in the Overlaps tab: choose the platform and add the creators. The analysis takes up to an hour, then you find the result in the Overlaps tab.

Why commenters and not followers?

Commenters are the people who actively engage with a creator. Comparing them shows how much the engaged communities overlap. It is not a follower overlap.

Is a high or a low overlap better?

It depends on your goal. A high overlap reaches the same people several times, which strengthens your message. A low overlap brings your campaign to more different people.

For which platforms can I create an Engagement Overlap?

For Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. All creators in one overlap need to be on the same platform.

What does an Engagement Overlap cost?

Engagement Overlaps are part of the All-In and Enterprise plans. Each creator in the overlap needs an unlocked audience report; missing reports are unlocked with one report credit each.
